Wahey! Last night I hit 70 pages.
I know it's going to be FAR too long at this point, given the story I still need to cover - but better to hack down too much content then to try to draw it all out, I guess.
I was pretty excited. I re-read some scenes and I must say that I'm pretty stoked with my dialogue (even though I know some of the scenes are far too long and maybe not moving the story as quickly as they should).
I know some people struggle with it, I've always enjoyed writing dialogue and I would like to think I'm pretty good at it. I'm not the most outwardly confident writer so it's hard for me to admit that kind of thing. I'm overwhelmed by people who are loud, aggressive writers who have absolute opinions on what's right and what's wrong.
However, I would rather be quietly confident than to be the kind of writer whose ego well and truly takes over.
Writers, hey? What a bunch of wackos.
After many years of excuses, I'm finally writing my first feature film. I started writing on January 1, 2014, with the goal of having a polished draft by the middle of the year. Come share the horror.

April 3: Upping the stakes.
I just had a crazy idea that raises the stakes quite significantly.
I know I probably should have plotted it out earlier, but hey - sometimes these things don't come to you until you get in there.
I've been making good progress but now I'm not quite sure what to do - this new idea certainly involves a bit of re-jigging from this point in, so I'm gonna be slowing down (again) while I work out how this affects everything else.
But still - it's all for the good of the story, right?
